Surrender to the magic

of who you are.

For over 60 years, I’ve explored the world in different “shoes.” I’ve worn blue scrubs and a mask as a physician assistant in heart surgery, Phillies jerseys at barbecues, an aluminum frame backpack in the Himalayas, and a hospital gown as I watched my physical life dissolve. Today, I wear jeans, a sweater, and a great pair of shoes.

What do I do?

Each of us moves through this world in unique ways. Whether we are walking across the mountains, running errands, or chasing kids around the house— we are all on a personal adventure. While at times we may think adventure only exists in the great outdoors, I have found that adventure waits all around us in our everyday lives (no passport needed). The trick is realizing it.

Life has a way of lulling us into a routine of comfort, an emotional and spiritual home. This home (our routine) is often safe and comfortable, but it can also become restrictive. Stepping out of a routine by making a small change can be daunting.

This is what I feel J.R.R. Tolkien was alluding to when he wrote:

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.

— J.R.R. Tolkien

Now, when I was five years old, it was my first day of kindergarten, and I remember running out my front door before my mom could take my hand. I ran to the end of our walkway, turned left, and continued down the sidewalk. It wasn’t until I felt my mom grab my arm that I realized I had turned the wrong way. Had Mom not taken my hand and shifted my direction, I would’ve been late for my first day of kindergarten. Sometimes, we need to make a change, but deciding what that change should be can be tricky. I was ready for kindergarten, but I did not know how to get there!

This is where I come in. I am here to walk with you, to help you keep your feet, to offer light when the road gets dark, and to hold you accountable when the road gets tough. While we do not know where the road will lead us, we must foster trust and acceptance that the work will be guided and will lead us to where we need to go together.

What’s my experience?

I am a physician assistant, recognized educator, and wellness expert with over 40 years of clinical patient care, teaching, and administrative experience in the healthcare industry.

I have extensively traveled the world studying the physical and spiritual aspects of disease in the body and how whole-food nutrition and mind-body medicine can restore internal balance.

Early in my career, as a cardiac surgery physician assistant, I began combining state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatments with holistic care services for patients. Later, I designed, implemented, and directed integrative medicine and wellness programs in multi-state healthcare systems to facilitate lifestyle changes for patients, employees, and the community.

My formal studies have included Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, meditation, and energy medicine. Today, as a student of life, I sing with the whales, dance with the stars, and enjoy working with clients around the world.
